According to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) and the Rhyme Gathering (Yunhui), the character is pronounced zhua. It means to strike.
In the Records of the Three Kingdoms (Weizhi), History of Emperor Wu: Boyu married an orphan three times; this is known as striking the father-in-law.
In the History of the Tang (Tangshu), Biography of Liu Zongyuan: Since ancient times, worthy men and scholars have been slandered and unable to clear their names, hence there are those who have been accused of stealing an elder brother's wife or striking a father-in-law.
It also means to beat a drum.
In the History of the Later Han (Houhanshu), Biography of Mi Heng: Cao Cao summoned him to serve as a drum official; Heng was performing the Yuyang war drum beat, and the rhythm was sad and majestic.
Also, according to the Supplement to the Dictionary (Zihui bu), it is pronounced ge.
In a poem by Su Shi on New Year's Eve: The morning rooster should not yet crow, the drum beats are feared as they add more strokes. Will next year not be a good year? I fear that my plans will be delayed.
