According to the Extensive Records of Words (Guangya), zhui means a rope or cable. As recorded in the Commentary of Zuo (Zuozhuan) regarding the thirtieth year of Duke Xi: At night, they were lowered by ropes out of the city. The commentary notes: Zhui means to suspend from the city wall and descend.
