Zi Collection, Page Position: Upper, Radical: Jade (yù), Page 11, Entry 01 In the "Yupian" (Yùpiān), the character "鄰" (lín) is used to mark the pronunciation, which is "zhēn". This is an alternative name for the egret. In Zuo Si's "Ode to Shu" (Zuǒsī·Shǔdūfù), it is written: "Flocks of swans and companions of cranes, egrets and pelicans." Furthermore, in the "Guangyun" (Guǎngyùn), the pronunciation is noted as "zhāng dāo qiè", and in the "Jiyun" (Jíyùn), it is noted as "zhī rèn qiè". The pronunciation is "zhèn", with the same meaning. Note: In the "Book of Odes" (Shijing), "Zhou Song" (Zhōu Sòng), there is the phrase "zài lù yú fēi" (振鹭于飞). The commentary states that "zhèn" describes the appearance of flying in flocks. Later generations, because of the character "zhèn", added the "bird" radical to the side, creating the character "䳲" (lù).
