In "Shèzhì Fù (射雉赋)" by Pān Yuè (潘岳), there is a phrase "kuī chǎn yè". The commentary explains: "chǎn" is pronounced chǒu zhàn fǎn. This describes a pheasant hiding among the leaves of a wheat field, peeking out from between the leaves, not daring to leave its hiding place.
