Yin Collection, Middle Volume Radical: Mountain (shān) Character: Zè Kangxi Strokes: 12 Page 315, Entry 16 Pronounced zè. Zè lì describes the appearance of a mountain that is high and massive. Also, according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it refers to mountain peaks connected in a series. Liang dynasty poet Liu Jun wrote: Chisel windows to peer at towering heights, open shutters to gaze upon the rugged peaks. Also in Wang Yanshou's Rhapsody on the Lingguang Hall of Lu (Lu Lingguang Dian Fu): It is rugged and layered like dragon scales. The commentary explains this as describing an uneven or jagged appearance, similar to the scales of a dragon. See the notes for the character lì, which appears earlier.
