Zi Collection, Page Position: Lower Radical: Divination (bǔ) Kangxi Dictionary Stroke Count: 7 Page: Page 158, Line 6 According to the Tang Rhymes (Tangyun), the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), the Rhyme Collection (Yunhui), and the Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), the pronunciation is the same as yǒu. The Jade Chapters (Yupian) states that this is a medium-sized wine vessel. The Erya (Erya), Section on Implements, defines it as a type of vessel. The Commentary notes it refers to the wine vessel known as a zūn. The Sub-commentary explains that it belongs to the category of medium-sized zūn vessels. Sun Yan stated that zūn and yí vessels are high-grade, the léi jar is low-grade, and this vessel is in the middle. Guo Pu stated that it is neither large nor small, falling between the léi and the yí. One vessel of black millet sacrificial wine — Book of Odes (Shijing), Greater Odes. It is also written in a variant form pronounced xiū. The Rites of Zhou (Zhouli), Spring Offices, Sacrificial Wine Officer, records the use of xiū for ancestral temple sacrifices. The Commentary notes that Zheng Xuan stated xiū is pronounced the same as yǒu. According to the Tang Rhymes, the Collected Rhymes, and the Correct Rhymes, it is also pronounced the same as yóu, with the same meaning. Textual Research: Regarding the passage in the Book of Odes, Greater Odes, which reads one vessel of black millet lǔ, the original text is carefully amended to change lǔ to chàng (sacrificial wine).
