Pronounced yǎo (falling tone)
From "Guangyun" (Guangyun), pronounced wū jiǎo (entering tone); from "Jiyun" (Jiyun), pronounced yī niǎo (falling tone). The pronunciation is the same as yǎo.
"Shuowen Jiezi" (Shuowen Jiezi) explains it as: to see from afar and coincide. The character is composed of "sun" (rì) and "spoon" (bǐ). Bǐ means to coincide. The pronunciation is the same as yǎo in "yǎotiǎo" (yǎotiǎo).
In the "Notes" (Zhu), Xu Kai says: bǐ means to be close. Therefore, it is said to "coincide."
