Xu Collection, Upper Volume Radical: Metal (jīn) Xing Kangxi stroke count: 14 Page 1304, Entry 20 Pronounced xíng. Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen) states it resembles a bell but with a long neck. Formed from the radical for metal and the phonetic component jian. Another source suggests it is a vessel for wine. Also, per Jiyun (Jiyun), pronounced jiān. Used in names. As seen in Xunzi (Xunzi), specifically the chapter Against the Twelve Masters (Fei shi'er zi pian), mentions Mo Di and Song Xing. Additionally, per Jiyun (Jiyun), it is interchangeable with the character xíng (a type of tripod vessel). See the detailed note under the entry for that character. Per Jiyun (Jiyun), sometimes also written in a variant form.
