Zi Collection, Upper Volume, Page 30, Entry 03 Pronounced xi (low tone). A type of insect. In the "Records of Natural Phenomena" (Bowuzhi), it is recorded as a highly poisonous substance. One interpretation is that it refers to the feathers of the zhen bird, which resemble a sparrow with a black head and red beak, also called a "zhēn" (䖷). The male is called "zhēn" (䖷) and the female is called "yě" (也).
