In the Ancient Music Bureau (Gu Yuefu), there is the line, "Pearls and pendants dance gracefully in the golden palace." Also, according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it refers to an attendant or handmaiden. It is interchangeable with the character guo in the phrase two women guo found in the Mencius (Mengzi). It is also written in a variant form (luo).
