Kangxi Dictionary

Zi Collection, Page Position: Lower Radical: Mouth (kǒu) Page 189, Entry 03 The Zihui states that the pronunciation is the same as the character for kěn, with a tone similar to the rising tone of tūn. It means the appearance of being foolish or dull. Furthermore, the Zhongzhou Yinyun records the pronunciation as tìn, with a tone similar to the departing tone of tūn. It means to scatter or throw about in a disorderly manner. Note: The character tun is not recorded in various reference books. Therefore, the Zhengzitong claim that it possesses two pronunciations and two definitions is incorrect. However, the assertion that it is merely a miswritten form of the character tūn also lacks evidence.
