According to the Tang Rhyme (Tangyun), the Jiyun, and the Rhyme Compilation (Yunhui), it is pronounced táng. The name of a tree. It is the di tree. Also known as the yi tree. The Extensive Rhyme (Guangyun) cites the Literary Expositor (Erya) stating that the tangdi tree is the yi tree. It does not contain the tree radical. It also refers to a bowl. In the Rectification of Names chapter of the Xunzi, it states that the people of Lu use a bowl, the people of Wei use a wooden scoop, and the people of Qi use a single leather container. The commentary notes that a bowl is called a tang, and a shallow basin is called a ke.
