The Collected Rimes (Jiyun), the Rime Assembly (Yunhui), and the Correct Rimes (Zhengyun) record the pronunciation as tui, meaning compliant. In the External Things (Waiwu) chapter of the Zhuangzi (Zhuangzi), it is written: In a yielding manner, the Way is fully realized. The commentary by Guo Xiang notes: Being yielding without arrogance, forgetting the physical form and finding contentment within oneself; then the Way is reached to its limit. Furthermore, Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen Jiezi) defines the term as elegant. Another definition is the appearance of being tall. The Expanded Rimes (Guangyun) and the Collected Rimes (Jiyun) provide an alternative pronunciation of tui. The Collected Rimes (Jiyun) also records a pronunciation of hui with the same meaning.
