Zi Collection, Upper Volume Radical: Foot (zú) Page 1234, Entry 05 The Broad Rhymes (Guangyun) uses the pronunciation combination method for tan and hui, and the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) uses the combination method for cu and hui; the pronunciation is the same as tui. The Jade Chapters (Yupian) defines it as a shoe. In the southwestern regions of Liangzhou and Yizhou, shoes are called lou. The Broad Rhymes (Guangyun) records that lou is a type of shoe; those with sides are called lou. The Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) describes it as a coarse straw sandal. Also, the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) uses the pronunciation combination method for hu and wa; the pronunciation is the same as huai. The meaning is the same. Sometimes also written in a variant form (zhuan).
