Zi Collection, Page Position: Upper, Radical: Dog (quǎn), Page 103, Entry 09 Pronounced tuān (rising tone). Also explained as a wild boar in "Li Bai's Grand Hunt Fu" (Lǐ Bái · Dà Liè Fù). In the "Compendium of Materia Medica" (Bencao Gangmu), Li Shizhen states that 䝎 (quán) means "round," referring to the current species of wild boar, which is plump and round. The "Explanations" (Zhù) clarify that 䝎 (quán) is a wild boar. The "Zhengzitong" (Zhèngzìtōng) considers it interchangeable with 貒 (tān). This beast resembles a pig, hence the "pig" radical (豕). The form written with the "dog" radical (犭) as 猯 (quán) is incorrect.
