Pronounced tuò (falling tone) according to the "Guangyun" and tuō (falling tone) according to the "Jiyun," pronounced the same as "tà." Refers to a large double-hulled boat. The "Tongya" records that the "pú" boat was named for its wide and stable characteristics and belonged to the "huáng" class of vessels. Wang Jun's constructed connected barges, 120 paces long and wide, with four gates, on which horses could be ridden, were of this "pú" type. Emperor Yuan of Liang's "Wu Qu Xing" writes: Lotuses return with the beds, when can I return by "pú" boat.
