"Book of Rites (Liji)" notes the pronunciation as "tuo he qie," with the same sound as "ta." Meaning: To capture an object with a rope. "Chronicles of Zizhi (Zizhi Tongjian)" records: In the thirteenth year of Emperor Zhongzong's reign (691 AD), the Khitan people used a flying lasso to capture Ma Renjie in Yingzhou and took him alive.
