From Commentary on Ancient and Modern Times (Gujinzhu): Suan is also known as luan suan. Popularly called small garlic.
From Extended Wing of the Erya (Eryayi): Large garlic is called hu, small garlic is called suan.
From Biographies of Eminent Scholars (Gaoshizhuan): Min Zhongshu of Taiyuan was known to the world as an honorable man. When Zhou Dang saw him eating beans and drinking water, he gave him some raw garlic.
Also, in ancient times, silver garlic-shaped weights were used to hold down curtains.
