According to the Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen), it means to gather grain. Xu Shen comments that it refers to the act of bundling or collecting.
Also, according to the Guangyun (Guangyun), it means to rest or to be relaxed and happy.
According to the Yunhui (Yunhui), returning to life after death is called su. Commonly written in the variant form su.
As mentioned in the Book of Documents (Shujing), in the Announcement of Zhonghui (Zhonghui zhi gao), the people shall return to life once the sovereign arrives.
