Zi Collection, Page Position: Upper, Radical: Hand (shǒu) Pronounced shǎn — describes rapid movement. "Pan Yue's 'She Zhi Fu'" states, "The pheasants descend the hills and charge the enemy." The commentary explains this refers to pheasants calling on high hills, then flying down to charge their opponents. Also pronounced with a falling tone. "Jiyun" and "Yunhui" give the pronunciation as shàn. Same as the character "zhǎn". See the explanation for "zhǎn" for details.
