Shen Collection, Middle Volume Radical: Insect (chóng) 蛥 Kangxi strokes: 12 Page 1082, Entry 15 Tang Rhymes (Tangyun) and Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) state it is pronounced shiele. Jade Chapter (Yupian) records it as shiejue. Classified Chapters (Leipian) explains it as an insect of the cicada family. The Dialect (Fangyan) by Yang Xiong mentions: the shiejue is called xilao in the Qi region, huigu in the Chu region, also known as linggu in some places, and is called shiejue in the Qin region.
