Recorded in the "Guangyun" and "Jiyun" as "shī rǎn qiè", pronounced the same as "shǎn". "Shuowen Jiezi" explains it as: to steal and conceal property in one's bosom.
Additionally, the "Jiyun" records it as "shī zhī qiè", pronounced the same as "shì". The meaning is the same as above. The character "shǎn" originates from this. The character is composed of "㚒", indicating holding something, and is formed from two "rù" characters. It is distinguished from the character "jiā" which has the "rén" radical.
