Kangxi Dictionary

Zi Collection, Upper Volume, Page 15, Entry 03 Pronounced rui (falling tone) with fanqie "yi" (以) and "rui" (芮). Describes the appearance of grass growing. The "Yangzi·Fangyan" states: 莌 means small, and any grass just sprouting from the ground and beginning to form is called 䓲. Zuo Si's "Wu Du Fu" writes: Lush and verdant, it grows 䓲 and flourishes. Also, the "Guangyun" uses fanqie "yi" (弋) and "xue" (雪), and the "Leipian" uses fanqie "yu" (欲) and "xue" (雪), pronounced yue (falling tone). The meaning is the same.
