Commentary: Yang Liang says: It refers to the fāngxiàng ritual mask. Because the head is shaggy and disheveled, it is called a masked qī.
Han Yu says: Those with four eyes are known as fāngxiàng, and those with two eyes are known as qī. It is used interchangeably with a related character form.
