History of the Former Han (Qian Hanshu), Account of the Southwest: Zhang Qian stated that while in Daxia, he saw Sichuan cloth and Qiong bamboo walking sticks.

Bamboo Manual (Zhupu) by Dai Kaizhi: Among bamboos suitable for walking sticks, none are more esteemed than Qiong. Its knobby appearance is extraordinary, as if crafted by human hand. It does not only grow in the lands of Shu, but is also produced in other regions. Another name for it is fu lao (support for the elderly), where the name and the reality of its function are the same.
