Kangxi Dictionary

According to the Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun), it is identical to the character for lack. Also, according to the Orthography Dictionary (Zhengyun), it is pronounced ci (falling tone). It is a person's name. The commentary on the Xunzi records: There was a man named Ci Fei in the State of Chu, who obtained a precious sword in the regions of Wu and Yue. The commentary on the Book of Han (Hanshu) writes it as Zifei. The Spring and Autumn Annals of Master Lu (Lüshi Chunqiu) writes it as Cifei. There is also a claim that it is written as Cifei. Note: The General Dictionary of Correct Characters (Zhengzitong) argues that the character for this entry does not have the pronunciation of ci, which is incorrect.
