Zi Collection, Upper Volume Radical: Knife (dāo) Page 123, Entry 04 Pronounced qín The shaft of a spear. Also refers to a hoe or spade. Variant form: "jīn" Note: In historical texts, it is written as "jīn". The common form "jié" is incorrect. According to the "Guò Qín Lùn" (Guo Qin Lun) by Jia Yi, "chú yōu jí jīn," it is written as "jīn." In the "Book of Odes" (Shijing), "èr máo zhòng gōng," Zheng Xuan's commentary states that the shaft of a spear is called "jīn," and it is also written as "jié." Therefore, "jīn" and "jié" are interchangeable.
