Chen Cangqi said: The clever wife bird is smaller than a sparrow and builds its nest in woods and bushes. The nest is shaped like a small bag. According to the annotation of "Shi Niao" in Erya (Erya): A wren is a peach sparrow. It is commonly called a clever wife bird. Originally written as "qiao", later generations added the bird radical to write "niao". For a detailed explanation, see the annotation for the character "xiao". A wren is sometimes also written as "xiao".
