Pronounced qiao (rising tone). In the "Guangyun," the pronunciation is given as ju jiao qie; in the "Jiyun," it is given as qu jiao qie. The "Yupian" explains it as "to reside temporarily, to sojourn." It is also explained in the "Yunhui" as "to reside temporarily," and was originally written as 侨. In the "Jiyun," it is also written as a variant form, 㝯.
