Zi Collection, Page Position: Upper, Radical: Tree (mù), Page 136, Entry 06 Pronounced qí — "Guangyun" and "Jiyun" state that this character is pronounced *qú jī* cut, with the same sound as "qí." "Zilin" explains it as a横生的树枝 (hēng shēng de shù zhī - branches growing horizontally). Another explanation is 树木旁生的枝条 (shù mù páng shēng de zhī tiáo - branches growing alongside trees). It is sometimes written in a variant form. 《Jiyun》 states that this character is pronounced *qiào yí* cut, with the same sound as "qí." The meaning is the same.
