Name of a river. Origin of Characters (Shuowen): The river rises in Dong Commandery, Puyang, and flows south into Juye. Commentary on the Water Classic (Shuijing): The Huzi River flows out of the north of Puyang County in Dong Commandery and goes east to the Goushi district of Jiyin, where it becomes the New Canal; it then flows northeast past Linqiu County to become the Pu River.
Name of a prefecture. Expanded Record of the Universe (Guangyuji): It belongs to Dongchang Prefecture; in the Spring and Autumn period, Duke Cheng of Wei had his capital here; it was Juancheng in the Han dynasty and Pu Prefecture in the Sui dynasty.
Name of a bamboo. History of the Former Han (Qianhan): Biography of the Ailao Yi: Its bamboo joints are one foot apart, and it is called Pu bamboo.
