According to the Ocean Chapters (Haipian), it is pronounced fu. It is a character used in mantras. The Correct Character Guide (Zhengzitong) notes that the character wa appears in many places in Sanskrit scriptures. It appears in the mantras of the Diamond Sutra (Jin'gang jing). The Heart Mantra of the Rain-Treasury Dharani (Yubao tuoni xin zhenyan) states: om wa su sa wa he. The Prolonging Life Dharani Mantra (Yanming tuoluoni zhou) states: hum hum shi qi sa wa he. While this character appears in these mantras, it is provided without pronunciation. The Direct Pronunciations of the Five Great Sections of the Peacock Wisdom King Sutra (Kongque mingwang jing wudabu zhiyin) states that the character wa has several readings, including wen he, wu ke, fei me, and wu bo wen, and that the character he is pronounced wu.
