Pronounced nu gou (falling tone) in Guangyun, and nu hou (falling tone) in Jiyun, Yunhui, and Zhengyun, with the same pronunciation as xie. Explained as "to give birth" in Yupian. Explained as "rabbit" in Guangyun. Jiyun states that in the Jiangdong region, rabbits are called "du". Sometimes written as "nu", or as "". In Han Yu's "Mao Ying Zhuan", it is written: "Ming Shi's eighth generation descendant Du." The annotation states: Er Ya - Shi Shou records that rabbits are called "lan". Guo Pu annotates: Commonly known as "du", same as "". Additionally, Guangyun and Jiyun also provide the pronunciation wu fan (falling tone), with the same pronunciation as wan.
