Jiyun (集韵) provides the pronunciation using the fanqie method of shi (式) and ren (荏), pronounced shen (审). It means to gaze deeply. Another interpretation is to look down. Yet another interpretation is to look stealthily. In Yupian (玉篇), this character is the same as the character "瞫".
