"Nò yè qiē" pronunciation, similar to "xuàn" — *Jiyun* (集韵). *Yè* (擫), means to hold in the center and control. Pan Yue, in his "Sheng Fu" (笙赋), wrote: "Yè xiān hé yǐ zhèn yōu huáng" (㩶纤翮以震幽簧). The commentary states: *Yè* (㩶) means to twist with the fingers, having the same meaning as the character *niǎn* (捻). Sometimes written in a variant form. Some editions write it in another variant form. The *Pianhai* (篇海) contains another variant form.
