Zi Collection, Upper Volume, Page 1, Entry 01 Radical: Earth (tǔ) "Zhengzitong" states that the characters 䂥, 碈, 珉, and 玟 are identical. The "Record of Rites: Rites of Investiture" (Liji: Pinyi) says that a gentleman values jade and disregards 䃉. Also, with the rhyme sound *yan* (entering tone), pronounced the same as *mián*. Chuan Yi's "Rhapsody on Luodu" (Luodu Fu) writes: "The Tonggu passes are lofty and precipitous, with rapid currents and cold springs on the rocks." This is where whetstones are produced, hence the existence of 碝 and 䃉.
