Pronounced mian. In the Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen Jiezi), it is the name of a fish, originating from the Huixie State. Furthermore, in the Correction of Characters (Zhengzitong), it is described as the croaker fish, also known as mian. It lives in the middle of the Southeast Sea, shaped like a white fish, with a flat body, weak bones, and fine scales. There are two white stones inside its head, and the white swim bladder inside its abdomen can be used to make glue. The Records from Beyond the Mountains (Lingbiao Lu) calls it the stone-head fish, the Zhejiang Gazetteer calls it the river fish, and the dried version is known as dried fish. Additionally, pronounced wan. The meaning is the same.
