"Classic of Mountains and Seas (Shanhaijing)" records that Mount Ying is abundant in arrow bamboo. Guo Pu comments: Arrow bamboo is currently produced in Hanzhong Commandery; its walls are thick, its nodes are long, and its roots are deep. The bamboo shoots grow underground in winter, and people dig them up to eat.
