Guo commentary: In the Jiangdong region, this is now called a vine; it resembles kudzu but is thicker and larger. Guanzi, Chapter on Earth Resources: In the soil of the five hidden types, the species include lei and kudzu.
Also, Book of Literary Exegesis (Er-ya), Explanation of Trees: She is known as the tiger lei. Guo commentary: This is what is now called the tiger bean; it wraps and climbs around trees in the forest, and its pods are covered in hairs and thorns. In the Jiangdong region, this is called she.
