Zi Collection, Page Position: Upper, Radical: Mouth (kǒu), Page 24, Entry 06 Pronounced long (falling tone) Explanation: "Window lattice of a room." Note: Small ones are called chuāng, and sparse ones are called lóng. From "Self-Lamentation Rhapsody" by Ban Jieyu: "The windows of the room are empty, and the wind is cold." According to "Shuowen Jiezi," lóng and lóng are explained separately. Nowadays, fáng lóng and lián lóng are also used interchangeably with lóng. From "Miscellaneous Poems" by Zhang Xie: "There are no traces on the window lattice." From "Ode to the Cowherd and Weaver Girl" by Xie Huilian: "The rising moon shines on the window lattice." Also, "Yupian" states that this is an ancient character for "lóng."
