The commentary states: Liao is the fat from between the intestines. In the Book of Rites (Liji), it is written: Take the sacrificial fat and roast it to lift up the head, to repay the Yang. In the Odes for the Suburban Sacrifices from the History of the Former Han (Qianhan Shu), it is written: Burn the fat with artemisia, extending to the four directions.
