Shuowen Jiezi states it is a species of catfish.
Erya (Erya), Explanation of Fishes, states: The li. Commentary states: It is the tong fish.
Book of Odes (Shijing), Lesser Odes of the Kingdom (Xiaoya), states: The fish enter the wicker baskets, the bream and the snakehead.
Zhengzitong states: It is the current black fish.
