Naming Meaning

Pronounced qiu mi (falling tone) in Guangyun, and quan ru (falling tone) in Jiyun, with the same pronunciation as "kui". The Yùpiān (玉篇) explains it as the appearance of legs spread apart. In Zhang Heng's "Xijing Fu" (西京赋), there is the phrase "䠑踽盘桓" (yǔ jǔ pán huán). The commentary explains: 䠑 (yǔ), means to spread the legs apart. Jiyun (集韵) records that it is sometimes abbreviated as "奎" (kuí). Also, pronounced qing qi (rising tone) in Jiyun, with the same pronunciation as "kui". The Lèipiān (类篇) explains: 䠑踽 (yǔ jǔ), is the appearance of striking an object. Furthermore, pronounced wu wei (falling tone) in Jiyun and Lèipiān, with the same meaning as "hu".
