"Kui Gui" cut, pronounced the same as "zhou" — Jiyun. "Gangmu Jilan" records: Ma Zhou memorialized suggesting that the "lan xiu biao shun" be made the formal attire of scholars. Garments with slits were called "que kua shan." Commoners wearing them were wearing what are now called "si ban shan." "Shuwen" explains: "Ban" refers to the separated parts of a garment's hem.
