It refers to silk fabric. From Book of Sui (Suishu), Record of Rites and Ceremonies: During the rites for receiving the Empress in the Northern Qi dynasty, the Empress wore grand attire, embroidered robes, a sash, and a pendant, topped with a jing, and entered the Zhaoyang Palace. When she reached her seat, the matron removed the jing. It is also commonly written as jing. From Book of Etiquette and Ceremonial (Yili), Rites of Marriage for Gentlemen: The matron adds the jing.
