According to the Sound Collection (Jiyun), pronounced lin (level tone). It is the same as the character for soak or irrigate. It is also the name of a river. The Jin River originates east of Wuan County. It also means to soak or immerse. According to the History of the Former Han (Qianhan Shu), in the treatise on canals and waterways, it flows southwest for several hundred li. Also, in the edicts of Emperor Wu of Han, it means gradually bright and gradually prosperous. According to the Five Sounds Collection (Wuyin Jiyun), pronounced zhen (falling tone). The meaning is the same. Note: The Correct Character Guide (Zhengzitong) observes that this character is redundantly entered under the ten-stroke section of the Water radical.
