Kangxi Dictionary

Pronounced qu wu (falling tone) in the "Tang Yun" (Tang Yun), and ju wu (falling tone) in the "Ji Yun" (Ji Yun) and "Yun Hui" (Yun Hui), with the same pronunciation as "jue" (jue). The "Guang Yun" (Guang Yun) explains it as a short garment. The "Yu Pian" (Yu Pian) explains it as 䘪䘿. The "Yangzi · Fang Yan" (Yangzi · Fang Yan) records that the garment called 襜褕 was known as 䘪䘿 in the regions west of the pass. Guo Pu's commentary states that the common name was 䘿䘸. The "Hou Han Shu · Guang Wu Ji" (Hou Han Shu · Guang Wu Ji) mentions "诸于绣镼". The commentary explains that the character "镼" does not exist in character dictionaries and is written as "䘿" in the "Xu Han Shu" (Xu Han Shu), referring to adding 䘿 embroidery to the 诸于 garment, similar to the modern banbi. The "Lei Pian" (Lei Pian) records that it is sometimes abbreviated as "袦".
