The Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) and the Rhyme Gathering (Yunhui) state the pronunciation is zue (falling tone). The pronunciation is the same as the character jue. The Broad Rhyme (Guangyun) defines it as to cut an object. The Rhyme Gathering (Yunhui) records that the original character is written as jue. Some versions of the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) also record it as a variant form (zhuan).
