Pronounced qu (entering tone), same as jù.
"Thesaurus of Characters (Yupian)" explains it as the name of an insect.
"Explanations of Words and Characters (Shuowen Jiezi)" records: 䗇鼀, which is zhān zhū (a toad). It is an animal that calls with its neck.
Also, "Collection of Rhymes (Jiyun)" records another pronunciation: jū (entering tone), same as jū. The meaning is the same as above.
There is also a pronunciation: qiū (entering tone), same as qū. "Guang Ya" explains it as 䖤蟺 (earthworm). Another explanation is 䗇䗩páng (a type of crab).
