Zi Collection, Page Position: Lower Radical: Open Box (fāng) 1. 匶 Kangxi Stroke Count: 19 Page 154, Entry 31 Pronounced ju (falling tone) according to "Tang Yun" and "Ji Yun," and ju (falling tone) according to "Zheng Yun." The pronunciation is the same as "jiu." This is a variant of the character for "coffin" (jiu) found in Zhou script (an ancient script style). "Zhou Li - Chun Guan - Sang Zhu" records: "When the morning rites are performed, the coffin is then laid to rest." (Note) This explains that just before burial, after the morning ritual in the ancestral temple, the procession begins, and at this time the Sang Zhu is responsible for guiding the coffin. Also, "Ji Yun" records: This character is sometimes written as "匛."
